Stellar Emperor Bugs and Loose Ends Version 0.16 9/17/97 -------------------- 1 Features 1.1 All remaining terminal-type Planetary Management screens have been updated with windows. 1.2 There are many "unseen" host fixes which will help us track down some of the more difficult to catch bugs. 2 Fixes 2.1 The duplicate ship ID problem has been addressed. However, the only way to test the "fix" is by having many users attempt to get new ship IDs at the same time. 2.2 Several alliance breaking bugs have been fixed (thanks to our beta-testers). 2.3 Problems with the "level" buttons have been fixed. 2.4 PM screen database update problems have been fixed. 2.5 The Options menu some conflicting shortcuts, these have been fixed. 2.6 The client will now detect and activate a running version of itself. 2.7 Several client initialization problems have been fixed. Version 0.15 8/7/97 -------------------- 1 Features: 1.1 A new screen was created for Planetary Operations, on the Planetary Management menu. 1.2 The Labor Allocation screen of Planetary Management was reworked. The "level" buttons, used to normalize the totals, now shows a running total of the numbers in the column. When pressed, the totals will normalize to the total of the default values when the screen was entered. 1.3 The maximum size of a alliance has been raised from 8 to 24. 1.4 A new display was created for reading messages from the Mail/Score menu. 1.5 Send Message to Ships was restored to the Alliances menu. 1.6 A new Ksound library was included. 1.7 New complaint logging features were added; for users to report conduct violations; ie. bad language on the radio 1.8 Record/Playback functions were removed, pending review. 1.9 Scoreboard files are now shortened; only the top 200 players will be shown in the scoreboard. 1.10 A newer help file was added, which includes the information in "Commands.doc". This file is not yet complete, however. 2 Fixes: 2.1 The range error that allowed warping around the edge of the galaxy has been eliminated. 2.2 Alliance database errors were repaired. There should no longer be any crashes while reading messages in the menu system. The functions for disbanding a alliance, withdrawing from a alliance, and joining a alliance should no longer cause database errors. 2.3 The blinking buttons in the Province Map when travelling in hyperspace have been fixed. 2.4 Tabs were removed from the scoreboard file. 2.5 The "missile detonates" message was corrected; it had been incorrectly reporting "missile destroyed" 2.6 The Commands menu can now be activated by shortcut ALT+O Version 0.14 6/25/97 ---------------------- Fixes and changes: The command menus have all been reworked. See the included document "Commands.doc" for a complete description of parts of the screen, menu commands, F-Keys and keyboard shortcuts. All menu command buttons are explained. New command menus, commands and shortcut keys have been added. See "Commands.doc" for details. A bug which caused data intended for other ships to come to you has been fixed. This was a big one! The "Group" menu items (under Maps) have been enabled. Quoting from "Commands.Doc": These entries allow you to highlight selected groups of stars and ships. A Group file is simply a text file which is a list of numbers of stars and ships. For example, you might want to have all bases and ships of a given team highlighted. In that case make a list, one line per entry, of numbers of ships and stars for that team. Use any text editor, like Notepad and save the file as type text. When you select one of these menu items you will be asked for the file name of the group you wish to assign to that color. Once loaded, the stars and ships in that group will be circled in that color on the galaxy map, province map and scanner panel. Only ships in range will be shown on the scanner panel. Once you have assigned a group to a color, the name of the file you assigned will appear in the menu bar. Selecting the group a second time will cause it to be unloaded. You can change groups at any time. A new indicator appears surrounding ships in the scanner panel. Shields are indicated by a green circle, which is brighter in front. Each semicircle indicates whether the shield is up or down. If its green its up, if its not there its down. Fixed directory problem which occurred when films were loaded or recorded to a directory other than the home directory. Fixed the "blanking" problem, where the scanner would go blank when a probe entered a system. Fixed a virtual memory hogging problem with repeated opens and closes of the galaxy map. Changed galaxy map to show hyperspace scanner range as blue circle. This will change in size as you use the zoom buttons in hyperspace. The galaxy map no longer opens automatically when you enter space. Version 0.13 6/4/97 ---------------------- -------------- The Help File -------------- The Help file is being rewritten. The version you currently see has been cobbled together from old Admiral/Stellar Emperor docs, so the references to the interface are generally wrong. However, the information regarding planet management, ship types, etc. is generally still correct. When completed, right-clicking on objects will cause the help file to display relevant pages. ----------------------------------------------- Unfinished interface (but operational as text): ----------------------------------------------- The following programs operate using a text interface. IMPORTANT: when asked to press RETURN or or ENTER, do it TWICE! These will be changed to use the graphical interface in the very near future. For the time being, they operate as if you were using a text terminal: Main:Select a Ship in Drydock PM:Modify Planetary Operations PM:Modify Commodities Stockpiles PM:Modify Ship Building Labor Mail/Score:Read Messages Mail/Score:Send a Message to a Ship Mail/Score:Display a Ship's Score Allies:List Alliance Roster Allies:Invite a New Alliance Member Allies:Request to Join an Alliance Allies:Expel an Alliance Member Allies:Withdraw From an Alliance Allies:Change Your Alliance's Name Allies:Disband Your Alliance Allies:Send a Message to Your Alliance A new front-end will not be required to make these operational; they are controlled from the host. ----------------- Known Bugs: ----------------- Record/Playback not fully operational. Default settings can get screwed up if you attempt to run two copies of the frontend. View Zoom, Pan, & Anchor buttons disappear. Missing buttons, buttons that don't work. Planet navigation to planet X in system X results in sundive (systems 1..6). Galaxy wrap-around can NAV from inside system on edge to any edge system in 1.4 lys.
